SCR technology is a process where DEF is injected into the engine exhaust producing a chemical reaction with nitrogen oxides. The conversion creates
water and nitrogen before releasing them through the tailpipe of the equipment.
In order for the SCR system to function efciently, one must use a delivered pure, high quality fluid. DEF is extremely sensitive to impurites, even a small trace of impurities can contaminate an entire ton of DEF. Contaminated DEF can increase the amount of DEF a system uses and also make it less effectivereducing emissions and eventually causing damage to the SCR system. A manufacturer can opt to void the warranty if proven that the damage is tied to contaminated DEF.
